"The wedding of Patrick Kennedy, Ted Kennedy's son, turn into quite a brawl with a three-way cat fight in the family. His troubled mother Joan, his late father’s widow Vicki and his 83-year-old Aunt Ethel got into a vicious screaming match right before Patrick married schoolteacher Amy Petitgout."If Teddy was still around, he’d have given all three women a dressing-down," a family insider told The ENQUIRER.-Hayden Garber
"But ever since he died two years ago, there’s no one in the Kennedy clan strong enough to manage all the high-strung family members."
The wedding was held at the Kennedys’ famed Hyannis Port compound in Cape Cod, Mass.
But tension had been building for months over Vicki’s plan to carry out her late husband’s wish to turn their 21-room mansion there into a study center.
The groom’s Aunt Ethel, widow of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, lives in another house on the property and doesn’t want outsiders around, sources say.
"Ethel’s been steaming over the plans to allow ‘strangers’ in," another source revealed.
"She’s also upset that Vicki no longer wants to live there because the memories of Ted are so strong. They got into a blazing row, and Joan, who’s battled booze problems for years, started yelling at both of them."
Fortunately, all three women cooled down in time for Patrick’s July 15 wedding, the day after the groom’s 44th birthday.
Kennedy, a former Rhode Island congressman who has battled substance abuse problems and depression, became engaged to New Jersey native Amy in March.
"When Amy found out about the catfight," the second source noted, "Patrick joked about it, saying, ‘Welcome to the Kennedy family!’ "
